Chris Proposes
I'm in the middle of a client upgrade and have been working a ton of hours, getting home very late and just going straight to bed.
We're laying in bed tonight and Chris turns to me and says You know, maybe if you ever came home at a descent hour one of these nights, I could take you out and propose to you
I told him you know things are crazy right now and that I don't need anything special like that anyway to which he says you mean it would be ok if I just told you to look under your pillow?
I freaked out. I started to feel around under my pillow and realized that nothing was there. You a-hole!!! Don't tease me like that.
He went out for a smoke, came back and sat on the side of the bed, reached in his pocket, pulled out his hands and said so you mean if I pulled this out and gave it to you, it would be alright? Well, I started getting excited only to find out when he opened his hands, they were empty.
Again, you're such an ass!!!
He did the same thing again. This time, when he opened his hands, there it was. Holy @#$%!!! I started to cry. I shook my head up and down, opened my mouth but nothing came out. I couldn't speak. Finally, out came YES, YES, YES!!!
He put it on my finger and I couldn't stop crying. All I could say after that was I have to call my mommy...

The Search Is On
Now that things have finally started to calm down after the upgrade, it's time to start searching around for all the things that make up a wedding. You know, things like halls, photographers, flowers, my dress (duh), etc...
WOW!!! Who knew that this would be so hard. There are so many choices. So many different places and options.
Lots of miles will be put on the car and the internet connection...

Searching For a Dress
Chris and I have decided that this is going to be more of a party than a traditional wedding, plus, I just can't swallow the idea of paying THAT much for a dress that I'll only wear once in my life.
Since Chris is in NJ this weekend visiting his boys, I took this opportunity to go dress shopping (although he doesn't know it). So I grabbed Lisa and off we went.
Lisa and I hit a few different places. I tried on a few different dresses and there was one in particular that when I showed Lisa and asked her do you think that Chris would like it?, her response was look at me, what do you think???
Well, since you're reading this and weren't there with us to see her, I'll tell you that she was crying (good tears).
But you know me, I have to shop around and keep looking (just ask Chris about looking at sites). So that's just what we're going to do...

Narrowing Down The Choices
We have narrowed our choices for sites down to 2. We're split on the decision. He likes one better and I like the other better.
Time for a tie-breaker. Since he's back east again this weekend with his boys, it's time to take trusty Lisa out for her opinion.
I take her to both but DON'T give her any of our comments. She had pretty much the same comments about each place that we both had. In the end, we chose the place she liked best because it was more open and warm. Once she made her comments, I told her that she chose the same one that Chris chose for the exact same reasons and she chuckled.
Chris is going to be happy that his place won :). So was I because after they both said the same things, that got me thinking about the other place and how I could see what they were both saying.
Ok, time to sign the contract...

The Date is Set (Finally)
After weeks of searching for the best place to host the wedding and the reception, we've finally made a decision (thanks to Lisa for being the tie breaker).
We chose the location and the date. The wedding and reception will be held at ##################### in CO. (Like I was really going to tell you where we're having it and ruin the surprise)
It really is a awesome place. We're going to have a really great time. Now we can get going on the other things...

Looking for his ring
Our first real venture in looking for the perfect ring for him. Got a couple ideas, but nothing that really rocked his world.

Save The Date Cards Have Been Ordered
We finally came to a decision and agreement about the Save The Date Cards. We placed an order the other day and got the proof back today.
We should be receiving them in a few weeks. Once we get them, they'll be mailed out to everyone. Keep an eye out for one in your mailbox...

Meeting the Photographer
Well, we had our first meeting today with the future photographers of our special day. Still a little research we want to do, but will make the final decision soon.

Bridesmaid Opinion
One of the two bridesmaids was in town this weekend, so I got to get her thoughts on the two dresses that I have narrowed down to in my search. Unless I stumble across something while out and about, that search should be coming to a close soon.

The contract has been signed and put in the mail, along with the check. Another item checked off the list of things to do.

Getting Ready
Looks like the Save the date cards are scheduled to be delivered on 11/7, time to get the mailing labels created. All ready got the "special' stamps to use for the mailing, so just need the labels and cards.

Save the Date Cards
Have arrived...I was ready to leave work at noon when I saw the delivery notification, but Chris wouldn't let me. Found the cards waiting when we arrived home, and we immediately sat down to start the label and stamp process. They were all set to be mailed within a couple hours.

Engagement Photos
Today we met the photographer at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs to do our engagement pictures. A couple hours of smiling, laughing and non-stop fun...a few hundred shots later and I'm hoping there are at least a couple good shots to use.

Engagement Photos Made Available
Today we received the link to our engagement photos. Nancy took some awesome pictures!!! She did a great job.
Now begins the daunting task of picking only 25 (out of 236) to be used in the Guest Book for the reception

Guestbook Photos Finally Picked
We finally came to an agreement on which 25 pictures to use in the guestbook. Now it's just time to wait for Nancy to design the album.

We received the email from Nancy that the guestbook album is ready for us to review and to give her our feedback on what we would like to see changed.

We found his ring
While we were in TX visiting my brother for Thanksgiving, we all decided to go to the mall to shop around. As we passed Samuel's, I pulled him inside to look at rings. We came to one case and he went WOW, let me see that one.
He tried on the ring but it was too big. Do you have this in a size 8? The sales lady pulled out an 8 and it fit perfectly.
THAT'S THE ONE!!!!!!!!!
This ends the hunt for the ring. I bought it right then and there. HURRAY!!! He always said that he would know the ring as soon as he saw it.

Back to the Planning
Well, now that the holidays and associated craziness have ended, the wedding planning is back in swing. We hope all our friends and family have had a wonderful holiday season.
We hit the road this weekend to find the perfect spot for all of our out of town guests. Not too much accomplished, since most of the people we need to talk to work Monday - Friday. Although most of the places we checked out were nice enough to give us tours, so we knew what we would be getting.
Also on the agenda this weekend, invitations....who knew there would be so many to choose from. We found a couple stores to start the search, and wound up with a few good ideas. But, I don't think it's going to be as easy as we thought.

Invitations have been order
Well, the order for the invitations has been placed. After much indecisiveness by Jenn, a decision was made. Another check off on that ever growing list of things to do.

Back to Dress Shopping
The new spring lines are coming out, so I've picked back up on the dress shopping. Today was a good trip out and it's possible that the one is close to being chosen.

We found our DJ
After a long and gruelling search (ok, really just one that came HIGHLY recommended), we've signed the contract with Rex from Quality Mobile Sound.
If he performs at the wedding the way he did when he talked with us, then he'll absolutely make the night awesome.

Invitations
The invitations are done and awaiting pick up from the store!!

The Dress
The dress is now also in!!! That took under 2 weeks.

Errands
A day of errands, but the invitations have been picked up, and now will start of the fun of getting them all addressed and ready to send out.
I aslo got the dress picked up too, and it's now safely stored at a friend's house, so someone can't get nosey. In a few months it will have to go back in for alterations.

Count Down
Well, it's now 6 months until the big day. Everyone keeps telling me it's going to fly by...I don't know that it can go any faster than it all ready has been!

The Hunt for Table Centerpieces
Well, today the girls headed out on an adventure to find the centerpieces for the tables. The flea market was a bust, but the good news is one of the local restaurant supply stores had what we were looking for. Took the couple they had in stock and ordered the rest.

Searching for the cake
Today was a day of tasting our different options. We've decided that we're not going with a traditional cake. We're looking for something different.

Bride's Maids Dresses Found
Today we made the final decision on the colors and the dresses for the bride's maids. They are now in the process of being ordered.

Have been completely assembled, addressed and are ready to go. Will probably wait a couple weeks to actually get them in the mai, but one less worry.

We have signed the contract for the videographer. From the demo disk we looked at, we'll be extremely pleased with his work.

The End
Well, it's been a while since the site was updated. The big day has come and gone and it was everything we dreamed of. We were surrounded by lots of friends, family and love. We will update the site with the pictures as we get them in, please enjoy.
